So '80s It Hurts

Whenever I'm tempted to rant about how terrible modern children's television shows are (I'm looking at you Zack & Cody), a little voice says, "Kidd Video."

My brother and sister were little kids in the '80s, so I was at least aware of shows like "Jem" and "Thundercats" when I was a teenager. One of the most bizarre was "Kidd Video," which latched on to the popularity of music videos around 1984. The actor who played "Brady Bunch" agent of doom Cousin Oliver was in it, so that was the first red flag. The concept involved the young rockers being taken to an alterate cartoon reality, referred to as "the flip side." Naturally, they encountered a sidekick who appears to be a clumsy Tinkerbell type with leg warmers. An instant classic.

Whoa, I vaguely remember that show. It wasn't as good as the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, though.

You know, I have hung out with aa LOT of bands in my time, but never one that was that damn excited to get up on a Saturday morning and practice.

Omg, this is my generation and I remember watching this show on Saturday mornings, but I never would have remembered the name of it. Wow. Memory lane! And yes, it is so '80s that it hurts.

Remember "Jem?" That was another rockin' 1980s cartoon gone wrong! My sister took it very seriously, though.

Hahaha - of COURSE I remember Jem - I LOVED that show and could still sing part of the intro - "Jem is excitement!" Half the time she was Jem with pink hair, and half the time she was Jerrika with normal blond hair. I loved how the band had pink and purple hair, and how they had a "rival" band that were the bad guys. Great show! I need to youtube...

My stepmom loved her some Jem, because she was a singer in various rock bands around town and there was a striking absence of female rock stars in Saturday morning cartoons.

Such is the power of Kidd Video, my friend.

Is your post trying to imply that you didn't watch Thundercats, though? Because I loved that isht.
