Best Toy(s) Ever: Mego's Wonder Woman Doll

Part one of a series
Now that the millennials are all over the place, we're seeing a surge in nostalgia for '80s toys. Transformers. Smurfs. Lame. Everybody knows that the '70s were the best years for toys. There is no room for debate about this.

With Christmas approaching, it seems appropriate to pay tribute to the most awesome toys of my youth. My kids are all about the Wii and High School Musical crap, but they will never know the joys of items like the Mego Wonder Woman/Diana Prince doll. I played for hours with this thing, and I contend that it kicks Polly Pockets' ass.

First, great post! Love me some WW/Diana Mego action! Second, don't hate but I gotta disagree with you... The 1980s had better toys.

[he says as he ducks the flying Stretch Armstrong flung at him]

While no one may utter a bad word about Mego action figures, they sit side-by-side with ... the pet rock, the Big Wheel, and Sho-gun Warriors. There really weren't many other cool toys in the 1970s. Even the Star Wars action figures got better once they crossed the threshold into the 80s. Bespin Fatigues Luke had it all over the Tatooine 1970's Luke (yellow lightsaber, what was that about?).

Transformers, GI Joe, Rubik's cube, Cabbage Patch dolls, He-Man, monster trucks, Thundercats, etc. The 1980s rocked! Now you might come back at me with a great list of other 1970s toys, but I'm drawing a blank.

Still a great post, though!

Oh, Shag. This means war. The Big Wheel pales in comparison to the Sit-n-Spin! Weebles, hello? Two words: Lite. Brite.

Lite Brite was pretty sweet. But other than that, I'm not convinced yet.

Also, the 70's had the much more appealing Fisher Price people…the little wooden ones, as opposed to the huge plastic monstrosities that came out in the 80’s (I suppose due to the swallow-ability of the smaller versions). Also, the weebles tree house rocked.

Thank you for having my back on this, Zil!

I think it's awesome that the kids are playing with the toys in racially and sexually appropriate ways. The boy can't play with Wonder Woman, because then he would be teh gay. And of course the black girl couldn't play with Wonder Woman either because that's uppity.

You got that, too?! I was like, "Why the black girl gotta be Nubia?"
